One of our favorite things about truck camper life is the ability to just bop anywhere we want. In this photo, we were visiting good friends on the Oregon Coast. We had dinner at the beach with the view of the little town of Newport and all the bridges. Then we were able to spend the morning at a different beach and sleep in the forest - all benefits of being so mobile!

The incredible scenery has mountain ranges, lakes, rivers, glaciers and rushing waterfalls. Our family of four was on an extended five month overland adventure from Colorado to Alaska. We drove this route on a stunningly gorgeous day and stopped often to get photos of the scenes going by as we headed south to Skagway. This particular spot forced us to pull over yet again. I took a couple of photos without our rig and then climbed a steep hill across the road to look down on our camper and truck and get this photo.

We'd been dreaming of this trip for several years and finally got to enjoy this adventure. We passed thousands of mountains and witnessed tons of stunning views as we went. It was early July when we were on the Alaska Highway heading north. Purple flowers were prime and blooming everywhere. The scenes were something out of a dream and we could hardly drive a mile without stopping to photograph a new, incredible view. This particular spot was simply a small side road that led to this photo.

While on an extended road trip for five months this summer our family of four drove from Colorado to Alaska, and we actually drove this section of road two times, once before we went to Denali National Park and once after. The first time we drove here the weather was completely cloudy and rainy every day. There were no views. Then after a few days in the national park the skies cleared and we drove Highway 8 again. This time we were not disappointed and the views were awesome. We came around a curve and saw this view with the Alaska range covered in snow and the road leading into it. My wife Anya jumped out and ran back on the road a bit in order to get this shot of our rig heading into this amazing scene.

A short ways outside Nicholson we came upon this stunning railroad viaduct completed in 1915. Our truck and camper were dwarfed by the massive 2375-foot bridge that crosses 240 feet above Tunkhannock Creek.

Around 11 pm the sky exploded and we were treated to an incredible show. I left the camera running a time lapse and captured 2600 photos, it was so hard to choose just one.

If you’re willing to venture off-road for 30 minutes, you will have a great spot to spend the day, and he was not wrong. Not a soul around and spent the day exploring, napping and cooking lunch and dinner in a killer spot.

During my previous visits to Moab, the trail had been closed due to snowy roads and bad weather conditions. This year I was able to complete the 18-mile trail that is filled with exposed cliffs and beautiful scenery that ends with a climb into Canyonlands National Park. During the drive I found this beautiful overlook off to the side of the trail sitting about 400 feet above the Colorado River.

Camping only feet from the water on the sandy beach was an amazing opportunity I will never forget. The sunset on the beach was a great way to end each day before relaxing and listening to the waves crash all night.

No where to boondock, camp, or even stop. Linda found a reservoir and I called it. It was four miles off on a dirt road with 12 RV sites with free 30 amp electric. What a nice road and a gorgeous spot to stay with nice pit bathrooms, mowed grass areas, and shelters. Nobody there. Perfect. Pictures were taken as a rain storm moved in. Wonderful place!

I’m a professor of law and economics at Stanford Law School. Nearly every day I would go on a hike in the hills east of the airport, driving my rig about ten minutes to get there. This picture was taken at the end of one of my hikes before I drove back to the airport. I love this combination of the Supertramp Campers Flagship LT camper and the Bowen Customs Camper Bed.

This picture was taken on the Colorado side of the monument. We love boondocking and rarely camp in established sites. At this site, we ran into the migration of the Mormon Crickets. They covered the ground, the roads looked like they were covered in blood and the little buggers are carnivorous. Which meant as soon as you passed over the crickets, the next round swarmed over the squished crickets to eat them and then were run over themselves. We had never seen such a thing before in our life!

We also travel with our Talon Side-by-Side, the boat rides under the talon when it is deflated. Traveling like this allows us to do so many things. We don't have pictures of the mines as the truck & camper will not make it up the trails. But the lake has beautiful views, and yes…fish!

Hinsdale County is the most remote and road-less area in the lower 48 states. We went up there to ride the Alpine Loop which is a 60-mile network of four-wheel drive roads with elevations up to 12,800 feet. The trails goes through mines, ghost towns and so many beautiful views! I wish we could show you the pictures from the trail...you would love them. It is an extremely popular area but so worth the trip!

It had been a dream of mine to get a truck camper and take it on a drivable beach, and we just so happened to camp near the longest drivable beach in the country (unfortunately you can’t camp on it, or we would have). We may or may not have gotten stuck (will never tell) in order to get this picture, but we had a lovely afternoon and evening with the ocean breezes and dinner on an incredibly stunning beach. An unforgettable experience!

In May of 2024, we headed west and looked for every beautiful boondocking spot we could find. This one at Twin Buttes Lake outside of Laramie, Wyoming, was the perfect stop for two nights of camping, and the sunsets were superb. We travel with our favorite little guy, our free-range cat, Oiko. He loves to get out and explore at every place we camp, and he was enjoying this sunset just as much as us!

Our objective: The Pan-American Highway. We're driving from Alaska to Argentina in a truck camper with our two cats- only, we’re taking the scenic route. A very scenic route. And the story behind the photo? Buckle up- it might take while to get there.Our first visit to Banff was in September of 2022 when our journey began, but that was a very short visit. It was already September and we were only just starting our trek up north to Alaska. We only had time for one day in Banff, and that was far from enough. Still yet, we were in awe. The towering mountains and bright, blue waters of the region were unlike anything we'd seen before. We were amazed by the epic scenery that passed by our windows as we drove along the Icefields Parkway. We knew that we would to come back to Banff one day. There was so much left to explore.We made it to Alaska and over the next nine months, as far south as Guatemala before things went off track. In July of 2023, we decided to reroute back to the US. Our Northstar 850SC had some drawbacks that were getting in the way, and the canvas walls weren’t mixing with the cat claws. We spent five months back in the midwest selling our old camper, buying a new one, and building it into our tiny home on wheels. We made a few modifications to the truck too, like adding a flatbed to allow for more storage. On New Year's Day, we set off again with our new-to-us Northstar Adventurer 8.5, and our eyes set on Mexico. Unfortunately, our journey hit an unexpected roadblock when our truck and camper were denied entry into Mexico. Apparently, as of April 2023, Mexico is not allowing modified vehicles (like trucks with flatbeds) to be temporarily imported. Flatbed trucks are classified as

Although I couldn’t spend the night because overnight camping wasn't allowed, I was able to set up and enjoy the view while I cooked and enjoyed my dinner.
